KETHEA, in collaboration with Asociación Proyecto Hombre (Spain) and Dianova International, will organize a side event entitled “Addiction treatment in southern Europe: providing solutions in times of crisis” at the 59th Session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) at UN headquarters in Vienna.
The event will highlight the consequences of the social and economic crisis on drug related phenomena in Southern Europe, a region particularly strained by the crisis. Representatives of 3 leading treatment organizations, KETHEA, Dianova International, and Proyecto Hombre Association, will shed light on the impact of the crisis on drug related problems in Greece, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain. The panel will offer a natural window on the subsequent risks and challenges for drug policy strategies and drug treatments, in order to meet the new needs.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Gilberto Guerra, Chief of the Drug Prevention and Health Branch at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The event will take place at Conference Room MOE79, on Τhursday, 17 March from 9.00 to 9.50 a.m.
