KETHEA EXANTAS Early and community intervention unit

KETHEA EXANTAS has been up and running since 2003 and is now a fully-developed therapeutic programme based in Piraeus. Its activities are aimed at young adults (aged 13-20) at every stage of drug abuse, and at their families.

The programme’s main feature is the way its services are tailored to meet the needs of individual drug users and their families. These services include individual counselling, non-intensive intervention for young people in the first experimental stages of drug abuse,
intensive treatment for young adults who are systematic drug users (therapeutic community), and group therapy.

KETHEA EXANTAS also supports young people who are addicted to, or overuse, the Internet and video games, along with their families. The programme aims to help young people cope with the difficulties associated with their age, acquire new skills and interests, and achieve a healthy balance between Internet use and their other daily activities. Seminars raising public awareness of problematic Internet use are also offered.
